The Plan - Young people in the village

Snapshot survey

Swiping an idea from another village, we decided to get a number of disposable cameras so that young people could take photos of the village to illustrate things they like and don’t like. For two weeks children were seen around the village snapping away, local residents unsure whether they were a like or dislike!

The result was hundreds of photos (including some of feet, the floor and the sky!) which illustrate how young people see the village today. In preparation for the workshop, the photos were sorted into likes (green sticker) and dislikes (red sticker).

The key issues were identified by volume of photographs on that topic sorted by the children at the workshop and can be summarised:
