Get sporty for free this summer The Young Persons Key (YPK) has teamed up with ASDA to extend a helping hand to parents in North Somerset this summer. They are offering FREE sports sessions for youngsters during the school summer holidays, providing the perfect solution to keeping them active while they're off school - at no extra cost to families! By teaming up with ASDA, The YPK is helping to get youngsters on the track to stardom - following on from the success of British athletes at the 2008 Olympics. The FREE sports sessions make sport accessible and affordable for families on a tight budget, gearing North Somerset's youngsters up for a holiday jam packed with sport - swapping TV and video games for a variety of sporting sessions. Youngsters from North Somerset will have access to a wide range of sports sessions over the summer holiday, ranging from inclusive multi-sports sessions, to climbing and ultimate frisbee - a great choice of healthy, fun and FREE activities. This is a fabulous opportunity which ensures that younsters throughout the districct have access to a wide range of facilities for FREE. The hope is that this initiative encourages parents and children to come down to the FREE sessions, and have a go at sports they may not have tried before. Please note that free spaces are limited, additional places will only cost £3 and YPK holders will only pay £2.50. The YPK is also happy to welcome The Raceway Group on board - they will be offering YPK holders the chance to take part in adrenalin action and extreme entertainment with their 21st century Lazer Combat and offer three games for only £8 as well as half an hour of adrenalin-pumping track time with their indoor go-karting session for just £25. And more good news! The Curzon Cinema will be changing their offer from 1 July; YPK holders can now receive £1 off the usual ticket price to any film (certificate applicable) which means YPK holders are no longer limited to specific films! Executive member for recreation, Cllr Felicity Baker, said: "There is a wealth of activities for our young people to get involved in, so there's no excuse for youngsters to claim they're bored and have nothing to do during the summer holidays!" The YPK scheme, which is free to join, aims to provide young people aged from 11 to 19 with an opportunity to experience many sporting, social and leisure activities at very affordable prices.
