Rubbish collections

The weekly refuse collection for Blagdon occurs on Wednesdays.

Holiday collections

As a rule of thumb add a day to your normal collection date for every bank holiday in that week eg. a Bank Holiday Monday will put a collection back to Thursday. Where several Bank Holidays occur together, (Christmas and Easter) it may take several weeks to return to normal; the collection day altering every week and some collections may occur on a Saturday.

Collections

To help the refuse collectors provide a safe service:

  • wrap broken glass and other sharp objects

  • don’t put liquids in the bin or bag, they will leak out on the road. Please take them to a civic amenity site or leave by your bin.

  • please ensure that your refuse is available for collection from the designated point from 7.30am onwards on the revised day.

  • Do not put your bags out early, animals may tear them open.

  • If you are disabled and find it difficult to get your rubbish to a collection place it may be possible for you to receive an assisted collection. Please contact Streets and Open Spaces for more information.

Collecting materials

The following cannot be accepted:

  • Garden waste
This is not accepted with refuse if you get a green waste collection. Please try either composting, taking to a Recycling Centre (civic amenity site) or phone Streets and Open Spaces for a green waste collection bag if you do not have one.
  • Building waste
Bulky, hazardous items or paint are not accepted
with the refuse. Please contact Streets and Open Spaces.
  • Bulky objects
Large objects such as sofas, beds, fridges etc can not be collected with the weekly waste collection. North Somerset Council offers a collection service for which there is a charge. Alternatively you can take them to their civic amenity sites which will accept them free of charge.
